Heartbreak on Fire, Nobody, Fields Turn Brown, I Believe She's Lying, the Intro, and Don't Pass Me By are definite highlights. This project still gets plays from me, as it has some absolute earworms. He got compared to B.O.B a lot back when this dropped, and while there are some similarities, I argue that his music had more maturity and instrumental variety. Overall I'm really happy this is on streaming. They definitely remastered/mixed some of the layers in these songs different, Polo Jeans def sounds different for example, and the shaker and snare on Happy Birthday sounds a lot crisper. I'm glad "It Just Doesn't Matter" kept the sample, and I don't miss the Gummo sample on Polo Jeans that much TBH. I think they used a different Earl Sweatshirt recording for his verse on New Faces, or he re-recorded it. I can only imagine how hard it was for his family to hear those, and just the references to the deep spiral he was in at the time. ![]() This was the project I played for my friends on the day he died, and they were shocked at all of the blatant allusions to his own death on there.
